Puma’s lagerfeld connection

It’s been 50 years since the first Puma Suede came into being. To celebrate the birth of this iconic shoe, the German sportswear brand has teamed up with another iconic brand, Karl Lagerfeld. The result is an exciting collection for men and women that features everything from T-shirts, track pants and jackets to unisex suede sneakers.

Originally invited to design a Karl Lagerfeld iteration of the classic suede sneaker for the anniversary celebration, the partnership evolved into the creation of a complete 13-piece capsule. Bringing together two iconic brands, each with their own unique aesthetic, the contemporary fusion of Lagerfeld’s signature design and Puma’s sporty, street style classics can be seen in the collaboration.

The focus of the collection are, of course, two unisex Suede sneakers, both inspired by Lagerfeld’s iconic signature aesthetic—a tuxedo jacket, high white collar, tie and sunglasses. The women’s offering includes a tuxedo-inspired track jacket with matching pants and a jumpsuit, while the men’s collection features a slim-fit hoodie and matching sweat pants, plus a logo Tee. There’s also a backpack, a shoulder bag and a baseball cap.

The move is the latest in a string of high-profile collaborations undertaken by Lagerfeld’s brand, which unveiled a capsule collection with supermodel-of-the-moment Kaia Gerber at the end of August. The creative also released a limited-edition beauty collection with Model Co earlier this year. Puma has also been racking up celebrity collaborations of late, enlisting the help of The Weeknd, Sonra and Hello Kitty, to name a few.
