Labradorite Lure
Believed to be the frozen fire of the Aurora Borealis, the labradorite radiates a bewitching iridescent light, infusing a sparkle in your persona when you wear it.
Especially in the evenings. “It carries a magical effect, especially when you choose to slip on a labradorite in its multi-coloured complexion of green, blue and purple,” says Myraa Raheja of Azotiique. “When light falls on the stone, it evolves in a cryptic tone, elevating from its base gray tone to an effusive mix of colours.” Best worn as boyfriend rings, and as asymmetic earrings that are so much in vogue, the labradorite is famous for enhancing your aura and energy matrix. No wonder then that the labradorite has been christened “temple of the stars”. Shine on.
Amethyst Allure
The purple hues of this gem range from alluring light tones to deeper, luxe aubergine. “It is the rich range of colour that the amethyst offers along with its affordability that makes it a versatile gem for design,” says Dimple Nahar, owner and founder, 2Divine—The Lifestyle Temple. “An amethyst is a classic pick and brings in a touch of stylish elegance owing to its royal shade,” she says. Dubbed as the ‘all-healer,’ this is also a stone of spiritual awakening and growth . “It rolls in the energy of fire and passion with a decisive feminine touch,” says Raheja. “Your best pick would either be a glamorous cocktail ring, or oversized earrings, or even a delicate necklace to flaunt the stone.”
Gorgeous Garnets
The brooding burgundy tones of the garnet are making huge waves this season. Known for balancing your energies, the garnet is known to gift you the serenity in your passion through its splendid, rich, deep hues of plum wine. Garnets are even believed to make you lucky in love, or so goes the folklore. “You can wear the garnet as multiple rings or even as masculine inspired pieces worn as an oversized pendant—these contours work beautifully with this semi precious stone,” says Raheja.
Kunzite Capers
Big-sized kunzites worn in rings are a hot favourite this season, shares Soni. “Team up the stone with diamonds or pearls, in bangles, for an elegant appeal. A novel way of wearing kunzite is in a brooch or in a pendant coupled with shaded stones to offset its sheen even more,” she says. Though in hardness, kunzite measures up to the quartz, in emotional mush, it is often referred to as the king of emotions. Pastels rule the ramp this season and in true kunzite form, the memories of the flush of fresh pink flowers rush in to a fulfilling zenith in your choice of kunzite. The rather young gem was discovered a little over a 100 years ago in California. Says Soni, “Kunzites work beautifully when coupled with pale peach corals from the seas.” So slip on as open rings set with dual stones in intricate arrangements, or modish chevron-shaped bands, or even in sparkling monochrome settings.
Tanzanite Tilt
“A valued gem, tanzanite is a beautiful mix of purple and blue. It distinguishes itself dreamily from sapphire, and is extremely wearable with both Indian as well as western wear,” says jewellery designer Poonam Soni. “The deep-blue rare gem carries a rather alluring, intrinsic purple shimmer and is extremely popular on the international circuit.” The palette range of the stone, mined in the vicinity of Mount Kilimanjaro in East Africa, ranges from lilac to indigo to violet. “Set in white gold, the gem spells sheer chic. Try combining it with diamonds on bangles for a stunning effect or slip it on as a pendant for its stylish colour,” Soni adds.
