Bengali superstar and supermodel Indraneil Sengupta, who also played a stellar performance in the Vidya Balan starrer superhit film Kahaani, is known in the film circle for his fit body. So what is the secret to his amazing physique? The answer is intensive workout and following a good diet. “Eating in moderation and at regular intervals are the key pointers to staying fit and healthy,” feels the actor.
Fitness to me is a balance of strength, agility and an overall sense of physical wellbeing. It’s a way of life and not goal-oriented. I believe health and fitness comes with hard work and there is no easy way out. I am averse to popping pills. I run and do weight training on two body parts a day. On Sundays I just stick to running. I don’t go by the rulebook of weighing myself or measuring my biceps.
There is no secret habit; I am just regular with my workouts. I enjoy running, it gives me more satisfaction than lifting any amount of weights. I work out for one-and-a-half hours everyday. I’ve now incorporated a lot of running (into my workout)—I run for an hour and do weight training for half-an-hour.
I have maintained my six-pack abs for 11 long years. Exercise is a bit of an obsession with me and I don’t need too much motivation. I have a thin body type. Instead of putting on weight, I tend to lose weight very easily.
So, I have to work out in order to maintain my weight.
I am not much of a diet person. I believe in eating in moderation and at regular intervals. I have four meals a day. I work out on an empty stomach and then have a protein shake. After two hours I eat six egg whites and an apple. Lunch consists of four chapattis, some veggies and a lot of meat. For dinner it is veggies and preferably fish. I try and avoid rice or bread in the nights. Throughout the day I drink lots of water.
