The process of detox is triggered the moment you step into Dr Anish Kurias’ Rockfort Garden. Cool, fresh breeze fills your deprived lungs, mist-laden mountains bless your sore eyes and a healthy aura wraps you. Opened a month ago, Rockfort at Illikal Kallu (90 km from Kochi in Kerala) is where Dr Anish hosts his unique ‘Healthacation’, a package where health and vacation go together.
The idea of a holiday where you think of nothing except your health stayed with Dr Anish for long. A 15-year research, which involved an extensive amount of travel over 50 countries and every nook and cranny of India, found fruition on the five-acre plot at a high-range in Illikal Kallu.
“My idea was simple. All the preaching on how to prevent diseases were falling on deaf ears. So I thought why not promote healthy living by combining it with a vacation. This is a good way to get people’s attention,” says the doctor.
The one-day Healthacation programme is devised to make participants experience ways towards healthy living. This begins with sessions by his trained staff on body postures, breathing exercises and mind-body control.
The mantra at Rockfort Garden is organic living. No chemical or inorganic manure was used to make the land cultivable as the soil is 100 per cent organic (lab tests proved it).
The farm has a rare breed of cows, goats and hens. It has a rich medicinal garden and a poly house where organic vegetables are cultivated. “I depend on the books Vrikshayurveda and Mrighayurveda for tips,” says Dr Anish.
By mid-November, an over-night stay facility will be set up. “It is not a plush and cosy place. The stay will be at a bamboo cottage and closer to nature,” he adds.
