If good health was among your resolutions for the New Year, look no further. Meghavi, the new spa in Hyderabad, is just the place to restore your wellbeing.

A combination of names of the two friends who run it—Megha (32) and Vidya (30)—the spa debuted in October last year. The aesthetically designed spa brings alive the elements through its design. The ground floor coloured in white and blue represents Space, while the first floor in shades of red, yellow and orange (and green—the colour of the heart chakra) brings out the element of Fire. The second floor has a rustic look and depicts the Earth through the globe-shaped hanging lights.

But the section that leaves a lasting impression is the Sparsh Lounge, where visually-challenged therapists are employed and trained to offer Reflexology, a Chinese treatment that involves stimulating reflex points on the soles of the feet to restore unimpeded nervous functioning.

The owner, Megha Dinesh, is a law graduate whose feats as a healer have been written about in the Daily Telegraph UK, The Times UK and Psychosis magazine. Her journey in the wellness and healing industry began 13 years ago when a job opportunity at the Oberoi Spa opened the doors to the realm of holistic healing. After gaining experience at Oberoi, Taj and The Park, she decided to start her own spa to provide spa consultancy and corporate or individual workshops using different healing approaches.

Megha thought of the name, Meghavi, which means thunder. Megha’s long-time colleague, Vidya, also has a hospitality background and manages the spa cafe. Megha’s expertise in spa and massage techniques includes her knowledge of Chua Kha—a self-massage concept from the Mongolian civilization, Emotional Release—an intensive approach of integrating suppressed emotions using Gates Method and Rebirthing Breathing, Muscle Sculpting, Tai Chi, among others. “Each therapy is to address specific issues or needs of our guests while healing,” says Megha, who has pursued various courses in India and abroad including that of a Reiki teacher, craniosacral therapist, hypno therapist, PLR therapist, Taosomatics, and so.

“All my therapists are trained on the principle of Taosomatics which emphasise the perception of body first and then techniques. Along with this they all are Reiki channels thus making their touch special,” says Megha.

State-of-the-art treatment rooms offer a variety of custom massage, and their Balinese massage, which is a traditional massage that stimulates lymphatic flow and restores “qi” energy, is a must try.

“In addition to massages, the other unique aspect is introducing with the usual and unusal therapies, the alternative sciences like Hypnosis, Past Life Regression, Craniosacral, Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) therapies for special needs, to address issues of grief, smoking and to assist in speeding up healing for diabetes, high-blood pressure etc. This is something unique to Indian spa industry. We have also brought in another important aspect of wellbeing—healthy eating through our O Cafe,” she adds.

“The spa café offers a healthy menu consisting of dishes that use seasonally cafe grown, organically sourced or local produce. It has a selection of deliciously light meals, fresh juices, wonderful smoothies and cleansing teas,” says Vidya. “The nutritional food is delicious and cooked with care by the resident chef. Here the emphasis is on low-fat, low-calorie dishes.” The sunlit surroundings add to the overall feel of well being.
