Mental purity leads to clarity

Our Creatrix—the Divine Mother—is forever present in us as intelligence and intuition.

Our Creatrix—the Divine Mother—is forever present in us as intelligence and intuition. She empowers us with the power of comprehension to understand each problem or situation and find the appropriate solution.

In the Devi Mahatmyam, Devi says, “Mental purity alone can lead you to total clarity. People may come before you dressed in the most dignified way, projecting a virtual reality. But, when you allow your mind to constantly dwell upon me and keep it ever pure, you will immediately cognise their true intentions, worth and identity. This insight or solution will come to you not through logical reasoning or analysis, but as a flash from your intuition.”

To a

lways be open and receptive to this flow of knowledge, creative ideas and intuitive prompts from Devi, we must chant daily the mantra from Shri Lalita Sahasranama “Ōm   Muni   Mānasa Hamsikāyei   Namaha”, which means “I offer my salutations to the Divine Mother who floats as a Divine Swan—hamsa—on the waters of the lake in the Still Minds of Sages.”

Then, Devi activates the faculty of intuition in us. There will be no need to think unnecessarily as everything that we need is revealed through intuition.

There are no more conflicts in the mind and no more mental debates about what is right or wrong. Everything becomes crystal clear to us. So the mind stops its constant chattering and becomes silent.

The one who is established in antar mouna or this inner silence is called muni.

When we become munis, our minds are pure, tranquil and serene like the crystal clear waters of a still lake. This is what Devi loves. She then floats as the Divine Swan of Discrimination in the manasa sarovara or lake of the mind.

It is said that even when milk and water are mixed together and placed before a swan, it drinks only the milk and leaves the water behind. So also when we begin to operate through intuition, which reveals the past, present and future to us, it becomes very easy to discriminate and decide what is the right thing to do and when it should be done. How beautiful a swan looks on the lake! We cannot see its feet paddling away below the surface, we can only see it floating gracefully on the water. Likewise, Devi constantly nurtures and nourishes us.

She makes us calm, patient, benevolent, beautiful and filled with equipoise. Devi says, “You are the embodiment of attainment, achievement, accomplishment, total enlightenment, liberation and freedom because you have triumphed in your journey of life through your daily sadhana. You will have no more stress and tension. You are only going to be the point of intuition and inspiration. Your mind has now shed all its limitations and expanded into the Cosmic Mind.”

So continue your mantra sadhana to further still your minds and invite Devi to abide there forever so that she can gracefully swim as hamsa making you ultimately Paramahamsa.
