Today, let us know how the great Cosmic Mother Adi Para Shakti manifested the entire creation or vishwa. Once, the seven divine sages or saptarishis prostrated reverently to Devi.
Having blessed them, She said, “I have created the Earth which will contain eight hundred and forty thousand species. In order to generate these species, two equal and opposite counter-active forces have been created. These are Aditi and Diti, who will be the consorts of sage Kashyapa.
From Aditi will emerge human beings and the twelve Demi-Gods or Adityas called Indra, Agni, Mitra, Varuna, Aryaman, Vayu, Soma, Bhaga, Pushan, Ashwin, Vasu and Surya. From Diti will come forth all the other species including the demons.”
Smiling benevolently at them, Devi continued: “Each epoch of creation will be divided into fourteen periods called ‘manvantaras’ and seven manus will succeed each other to monitor the welfare of the Earth during this time.
Every ‘manvantara’ will begin with Sage Kashyapa as the Manu and Aditi as his consort. They will be the first human beings and from them will begin the human race. I have created Brahma to take care of the creation of this Cosmos, Vishnu to nurture and sustain it and Ishwara to neutralise all the negative energy that is produced due to the fusion and fission.
The energy of Brahma, Vishnu and Ishwara will be reflected in each human being on Earth. The soul will come from the vitality of Vishnu (Chaitanya), intellect and creativity will emerge from the energy of Brahma and the faculty of awareness and breath will come from the energy of Ishwara.
Only through this faculty of awareness can a human being cognise and realise the soul and experience Sat-Chit-Ananda or constant bliss. Since the soul, which is the divine core, is extremely important in a human being, Sage Kashyapa and Aditi should now seek the blessings of Lord Vishnu and receive further instructions from Him.”
Heeding the command of Devi, Sage Kashyapa and Aditi manifested on Earth as Swayambhu Manu and his consort, Satyarupa. In Sanskrit, “swayambhu” means “self-created”. Since Swayambhu Manu and Satyarupa were the first human beings on Earth with no biological parents, their body, mind, intellect and soul were spontaneously generated and already tuned to the cosmic energy of the supreme spirit soul.
Before beginning the human race, Swayambhu Manu and Satyarupa performed intense austerities for sixty thousand earth years seeking the grace of Lord Vishnu. Pleased with their devotion and dedication, Lord Vishnu manifested Himself before them and blessed them saying, “Tell me what you want.”
They said, “We have been sent to Earth to begin the human race. Since your vitality will be encapsulated in each human being as the soul, please tell us about the ethics and values that should be followed by all human beings.” Lord Vishnu described the ways in which divinity would manifest prema—unconditional love and how every human being should live in order to experience Sat-Chit-Ananda or the bliss of
the soul constantly.
