Maruti Suzuki will soon introduce a technology allowing manual gears to be used like automatic transmission without engaging the clutch. Ammar Alvi has more Maruti-Suzuki is set to unveil automated manual transmission (AMT) in India with the Celerio.
AMT is a revolutionary technology that allows gears in manual transmission to be changed like in an automatic without engaging the clutch. This combines the convenience of an automatic to fuel efficiency of a manual. The technology is affordable and should not increase the price of the car significantly.
Maruti will be the first in India to debut AMT, a technology expected to improve driving experience. The technology patented by Magneti Marelli, is owned by Fiat SpA. The Celerio will be launched with 69PS 1.0-litre K10 petrol engine with 5-speed manual transmission.
