The company also boasts that the 1980mAh battery offers 24 hours of mixed media usage and the 1.2GHz processor along with the 1GB of RAM offers best of the class performance. The dual-SIM phone has a 5MP camera and 4GB of internal memory, expandible up to 32GB.

Micromax Canvas Elanza 2 Rs 9,340

As multinationals with deep pockets start getting into the sub-`10,000 smartphone market, the king of that market Micromax gets ready to take them on with the likes of Canvas Elanza 2. Sporting a 5-inch HD display, the phone has a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 200 processor and 1GB of RAM. Running Android 4.3, Jelly Bean, and sporting an 8MP rear shooter with a 2MP camera on the front, this dual-SIM phone with a leather finished back panel comes with 1GB of internal storage expandible up to 32GB.

Even as the multinationals and the indigenous brands compete for the cheap smartphone market, Chinese handset manufacturer Gionee is making its presence felt. Its latest phone, the dual-SIM P2S, runs Android 4.2 using a 1.3-GHz dual-core Cortex A7 processor with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. The 4-inch WVGA display is powered by a 1600mAh battery that the company promises will give you 9 hours of talk time on 3G. There is also a 5MP camera on the back and a basic VGA front-facing one.

Karbonn is another Indian player putting out usable phones into the cheap smartphone market, and the Titanium S1 Plus is a testament to that. For a little less than `6,000, Karbonn is giving you a 4-inch screen, a 1.2GHz Quad Core processor, 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 32GB. Running Android 4.3, Jelly Bean out of the box, this dual-SIM compact phone also boasts of a 5MP camera on the back and a 0.3Mp camera on the front.
