General Motors India appointed Lowell Paddock as its President and Managing Director effective January 1, 2012. Based at GM India’s headquarters in Gurgaon, Paddock oversees operations across India, including its manufacturing facilities in Halol, Gujarat, and Talegaon, Maharashtra, as well as its joint venture with Chinese automaker SAIC.
Lowell comes with a vast experience heading GM’s rapidly expanding operations and the growth of the Chevrolet brand in one of the world’s most important vehicle markets. Since September 1, 2009, Paddock has served as GMIO vice-president of programme management and planning, where he oversaw GM’s product line-up in the Asia-Pacific, Africa, the Middle East, Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States.
Paddock has also held several important posts in product planning and programme management in his home country the US, Europe and Asia since his joining in 1992. His previous positions include director of portfolio planning at GM Europe, vice-president of planning at GM Asia-Pacific and executive director of planning and programme management at GM’s China joint venture in Shanghai.
Some of the challenges faced by Paddock are streamlining the operations at its plant in Gujarat, aggressively launching new products, increasing brand awareness and above all meet customer needs.
