The Parliament reconvened today for the eight sitting after passing the Anti Trafficking Bill amidst objections from the Opposition in Lok Sabha on Thursday. The Trafficking of Persons (Prevention, Protection and Rehabilitation) Bill, 2018 calls for punishment ranging from 10 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine not less than Rs 1 lakh.
The NDA government is likely to table the National Medical Commission (NMC) Bill in the Parliament today which has been facing backlash from the Indian Medical Association (IMA) for allegedly being 'pro-rich' in nature.
Meanwhile, TMC MP Sougata Roy has given an adjournment motion notice in Lok Sabha over the Assam NRC list draft which was released today. Assam, on Monday, came up with the first draft of its first National Register of Citizens, in which, 2.89 crore people, out of the state's 3.29 crore population, have been included.

Lok Sabha adjourned after passing Criminal Law amendment Bill. Both Houses will convene on Tuesday at 11.00 AM.
The bill which was moved for consideration and passage by Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju was passed by the Lower House.
The bill seeks to provide death penalty to those convicted of raping girls below the age of 12 years.
Amendments to The Homoeopathy Central Council Act, 1973 bill which was moved by Union Minister Shripad Yesso Naik has been passed by the Lower house.

The Upper House which reconvened after 2 pm has been adjourned for the day after uproar over National Register of Citizens .
Home Minister Rajnath Singh says, "Some people are unnecessarily trying to create an atmosphere of fear. This is a completely impartial report. No misinformation should be spread.This is a draft and not the final list."
He added," justice will be served to everyone".
Rajya Sabha's adjournment has been extended till 2 pm.
