A woman was stabbed to death by her husband with scissors at Eramalloor near here on Monday night.   Aroor Sub-Inspector S S Biju said the deceased was identified as Rekha, 37, daughter of Velappan Puthussery Colony, Eramalloor.

Rekha was married to Sunil, 37, Madathil Padinjarakuttu, Sreenarayanapuram Ezhupunna, he said.  The couple had gone to Rekha’s house on Monday to get Sunil, a heavy drinker, admitted to a de-addiction centre.

After having dinner, the couple went to the bedroom at around 10 pm. Sunil was then in an inebriated condition.  A quarrel ensued between them and Sunil stabbed Rekha in her abdomen with scissors around 10.45 pm. Rekha’s parents and brother woke up on hearing her screams. “The door of the bedroom was locked and Rekha’s father and brother had to break it open,’’ the police said.  Though she was rushed to a local private hospital, her life could not be saved.  Sunil was arrested soon on charges of murder.
