The CBI has summoned IB special director Rajendra Kumar as an accused to record his statement in the Ishrat Jehan fake encounter case.
Sources said that Kumar’s statement would be crucial in finalising the chargesheet in the fake encounter case.
Kumar had given diversionary replies when he was interrogated in connection with the Ishrat case earlier, sources added. He was posted in the state Intelligence Bureau in 2004, and has allegedly given fake inputs in the case. He was also accused of playing a major role in generating an intelligence input about a L-e-T plot to assassinate Narendra Modi.
