Ten people have died in Himachal Pradesh’s Kinnaur district in different incidents of house collapse, as the monsoon hit the region three days in advance.While 60 villagers stranded on an island on the Yamuna near Yamunanagar in Haryana were rescued, dozens of villages on the Indian side of the Paksitan border have been isolated after a bridge near Ferozepur in Punjab collapsed in the rain.
Continuous rain for the past 24 hours has affected road traffic and cut Kinnaur off the rest of the state. Some 500 tourists are stranded at Sangla and some 200 at Kalpa. As the Hindustan-Tibet road on the China border is blocked at many places, authorities have sought the help of the Army and Border Roads Organisation for clearing the roads.
