Plans are afoot to run 14 special trains from various parts of Karnataka for BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi’s rally here.
“We are determined to mobilise about five lakh people for the rally to be held on November 17. We have intimated the Railways in this regard. The schedule and routes of the special trains will be finalised in a day or two,” former Deputy Chief Minister R Ashok, who is heading the team to oversee the preparations for the rally, said on Tuesday.
The BJP has formed separate teams for shouldering responsibilities such as erecting the dais, preparation and distribution of food, transport facilities, hygiene and security at the venue to ensure that the rally would be a roaring success without any hiccups.
All the BJP legislators, MPs and corporators have been instructed to mobilise the maximum number of people from their constituencies for the rally.
Ashok and former minister Katta Subramanya Naidu, who addressed a meeting of legislators and corporators on Tuesday, asked them to book buses well in advance to bring people from their constituencies.
“The party will bear the transport expense to bring people from the constituencies represented by non-BJP MLAs,” Ashok said.
Six kitchens would serve food to over three lakh people. Water would be provided in 250 ml sachets. About 500 temporary toilets would be set up near the venue and also at the entry points of the city.
Naidu asked the BJP corporators to mobilise at least 1,000 people each from their wards.
He also appealed to the party cadre to work in close coordination with the Police Department.
“We have asked the Police Department to open a temporary police station at Palace Grounds till November 17,” Ashok said.
BJP Office Shifted
With less than two weeks left for Narendra Modi’s rally, the BJP has moved its party machinery literally to the Palace Grounds.
The state party office would function from there till November 17, keeping in mind the convenience of various committees functioning to make the rally a huge success.
