BJP banks on Modi's charisma to sweep Delhi assembly polls

In the run up to the Delhi assembly polls, the BJP is banking on the charisma its Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi for its ‘Ghar Ghar BJP campaign’, (BJP in every house) under which BJP party workers will visit lakhs of houses in Delhi.

Starting October 17, the Delhi BJP will start a door-to-door campaign to woo voters in all 70 Delhi assembly constituencies. Party workers will distribute feedback forms about people’s expectations from the BJP.

The form includes questions like, “Do you want to see Narendra Modi as the next Prime Minister of India?”, “Are you affected by the spate of corruption in the country?”, “Are you satisfied with the 10-year rule of Manmohan Singh government at the Centre?”.  In the absence of the chief ministerial face to project against Congress party’s candidate and three-time Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, the Delhi BJP is luring voters by asking them to vote for the BJP in the assembly elections if they wish to see Modi as the Prime Minister. The party has based a sizeable part of its Delhi assembly campaign on national issues and leaders by naming Manmohan Singh in what is essentially a state election.

Talking about the ‘Ghar Ghar BJP’ campaign, BJP Delhi state unit Chief Vijay Goel said the BJP will focus on positive campaigning,  offering solutions to the problems being faced by people due to the 15-year Congress misrule in the state. The BJP will also share with the people its prime ministerial candidate Modi’s vision for nation building.

He said the ‘back to the basics’ campaign method was essential, as there was personal contact and mobilisation at the grassroots level.

“The BJP will continue to successfully connect with every family and touch every heart,” Goel said.
