Sharad Pawar jibes at Prithviraj's governance

Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar, without naming Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan, has called the latter’s  governance as paralysed.

Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar, without naming Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan, has called the latter’s  governance as paralysed.

Pawar targeted Prithviraj at an event in Pune,  organised on Tuesday to release books on former CM Vilasrao Deshmukh.

Comparing the ability of the late Deshmukh to take prompt decisions, Pawar said those now at the helm of affairs took months to sign files.

“We have had many Chief Ministers like Ashok Chavan, Deshmukh and others before him (Prithviraj). They used to study the files and decide on the same expeditiously. However, nowadays we do not know if people can clear the files because they have been afflicted with paralysis,” Pawar said.

“I have seen Deshmukh work personally as an MLA and MP. Like all good leaders, he did not bother reading the whole application or the file waiting for his approval. He would read the main parts and give his decisions. Ashok too cleared files in this manner,” the NCP leader added.

Pawar said he did not have any satisfactory reply on why decisions were not taken expeditiously. He said files were not being cleared for over three months now.   He, however, added that the NCP would not be raising this issue, as they are in alliance with the Congress.
