CHENNAI: MD Thirushkamini’s 72 (115b, 7x4) helped Tamil Nadu beat Kerala by 73 runs in the BCCI senior women’s one-day Plate A match held in Goa on Sunday.

Brief scores: Tamil Nadu 197/4 in 50 ovs (MD Thirushkamini 72, D Hemalatha 40 no) bt Kerala 124 in 45.5 ovs (Minnu Mani 40 no, D Hemalatha 3-31). Points: TN 4, Kerala 0.

Colts Sniff Win

Skipper N Jagadeesan’s 100 (151b,12x4, 3x6) helped Tamil Nadu take a lead of 117 over Odisha on the third day of the U-19 Cooch Behar Trophy match at IC-Gurunanak College. This was Jagadeesan’s third ton in the tournament. Odisha fared slightly better in their second essay, reaching 176 for eight. They lead by a mere 59 runs.

Resuming on their overnight score of 84 for two after only an hour’s play was possible on Saturday, the hosts managed to post 273. Jagadeesan was well supported by K Mukunth who made 64. The pair added 167 for the third wicket in 45 overs. Devendra (55) and Satyajit (51) were the pick of Odisha batsmen. They raised 100 for the fourth wicket in just 16.3 overs. But the hosts were very on top at stumps on the penultimate day.

Volleyball Camp

The Tamil Nadu junior boys’ and girls’ teams for the 41st junior national volleyball championship to be held in Chandigarh from December 23-28 has been picked. The players will have a camp at Vels University, Pallavaram, from December 10 to 19.
