MUMBAI: The alarm sent by Mangaluru police to their Mumbai counterparts that gangster Ravi Poojary’s wife was arriving in the city is likely to be a false one.

The city police’s crime branch had detained one Sridevi Pujari (45) on Monday night on suspicion that she was the gangster’s wife Padma, who has been missing since 2005. The action was taken based on the information provided by the Mangaluru police. Her 22-year-old son was also detained. A source in the city police said it was a case of mistaken identity.

“The woman is a teacher from Borivali in the city,” he said. A police team questioned the mother and son till Tuesday night. They neither arrested nor released them.
