AHMEDABAD: A sub-inspector of Surat police has been caught dancing with a bar girl while being on duty during an event, prompting the department to initiate action against him after a video of his act went viral on Thursday.

"We have initiated inquiry against Police Sub-Inspector D C Solanki after we saw his video where he was seen dancing with a bar-girl in Dindoli area in Surat city, even when he was on duty," Police Inspector J M Baloch of Dindoli Police station said.

He had gone for 'Vishwakarma poojan' on September 19, where he started dancing with a bar-girl.

Today, videos of his dancing with bar girl went viral on 'Whatsapp' and then we initiated a departmental inquiry against him, Baloch added.

The Surat police today submitted the preliminary report to  the city Police Commissioner, who will decide the further course of action, he said.

Surat city police commissioner Rakesh Asthana could not be contacted for his comment on the incident.
