TRS Chief Meets Sonia Gandhi

Ahead of Telangana Bill being tabled in Parliament, TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday held a significant meeting with Congress president Sonia Gandhi amid reports that the two parties were contemplating merger.

According to TRS sources, Rao met Sonia Gandhi in the evening and thanked her for taking steps towards the creation of the new state.

Rao, is also understood to have requested the Congress president to ensure that Telangana Bill to be cleared in both houses of Parliament.

When asked about the speculation of merger of the two parties, a TRS leader replied in negative.

"I don't think so. Talks may happen only after the bill is passed," the leader said.

The Telangana Bill is expected to be tabled in Parliament this week.
