Claiming that cosmetic steps and false promises are not going to give any political benefit to the ruling National Conference, Peoples Democratic Party Sunday said that only an accountable and people-friendly government can help restore political stability in Jammu and Kashmir.

"Only an accountable and people-friendly government can help restore political stability in Jammu and Kashmir," former Chief Minister and PDP patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed told a rally at Choulaha in R S Pura Assembly segment near here.

The present dispensation has been exposed before the masses due to its misdeeds and mal-administration, he said, adding that during its five-and-a-half years' tenure, this regime had betrayed people through its deceit tactics.

Mufti said the prevailing anarchy and chaos in the state was the result of mis-governance of the present dispensation headed by NC. He reminded the people that during its tenure PDP had provided a corruption-free transparent system.

"The PDP-led regime had set an example of good governance in the state by providing a corruption free and transparent system to the people," he said and added that it had brought transparency and accountability in the governance and justice was given to all sections of the society.

"Unlike NC, PDP leadership has never compromised with its principles for the power," he asserted.

Reiterating his party's resolve to restore sustainable peace in Jammu and Kashmir, he said that PDP was committed to solve problems of all regions and sub-regions of the state.

"Policies and programmes of PDP are formulated by accommodating wishes and aspirations of all sections of the society," he said, adding that his party would work vigorously to implement its policy of peace and reconciliation.
