New Panel for Northeast People

The Union Home Ministry has constituted a committee under the chairmanship of Northeastern Council member M P Bezbaruah to look into the concerns of persons from the Northeastern region of the country.

The Union Home Ministry has constituted a committee under the chairmanship of Northeastern Council member M P Bezbaruah to look into the concerns of persons from the Northeastern region of the country.

A Home Ministry spokesperson said the committee would examine issues, especially those in the metro cities, and would suggest suitable remedial measures which could be taken by the Centre.

The committee is likely to hold its first meeting for interaction with the students, professionals and other various persons from the Northeastern states living in

Delhi, NGOs, students’ organisations and other associations for seeking their suggestions in this regard on Saturday.

As per the ‘Terms of Reference’ cleared by the Home Ministry, the committee will examine the various kinds of concerns, including the concerns regarding security of the persons hailing from the Northeastern states.
