JAIPUR:  The State Government has decided to introduce ‘Trupti Yojana’ to give more financial muscle to the women SHGs for their growth. This was announced today by Panchayati Raj Minister Raghunath Mohanty at Vikash Samabesh, organised by the Biju Janata Dal at Singhapur Yatra ground under Rasulpur block here.

Mohanty said the World Bank had sanctioned Rs 350 crore for implementation of the scheme wherein 3.13 lakh SHGs, comprising over 32 lakh women across the State, would benefit. ‘‘Earlier, the SHGs were being provided small loans from banks under mini-projects. Now they can avail of larger amounts through medium and big projects under ‘Trupti Yojana’ that will be announced soon,’’ the Minister said.

Under the scheme, the loanee SHG will repay the loan amount in 25 years without any interest, Mohanty said. ‘‘As most of the people of the State reside in villages, rural infrastructure is the top priority of the Naveen Patnaik Government. So, infrastructure, connectivity, agriculture, electricity and safe drinking water are being upgraded for the rural populace,’’ Mohanty said.

Over 3,000 BJD activists and supporters from Rasulpur, Rahamba, Barabati, Kalan, Singhapur, Oddiso, Nathabar, Sribantapur and Jabara gram panchayats participated in the Vikash Samabesh.
