Bengal BJP to Send Report on 'Chop' Comment to Rajnath

The BJP unit in West Bengal will soon send a report to Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh about a TMC leader inciting his partymen to “chop BJP workers to pieces”.

KOLKATA:  The BJP unit in West Bengal will soon send a report to Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh about a TMC leader inciting his partymen to “chop BJP workers to pieces”.

The state BJP general secretary on Wednesday told Express: “The hate speeches and the way our workers are being attacked by armed TMC goons are crimes to which the state administration is a mute spectator.

“We are also waiting for the new Governor to assume office and will submit a detailed memorandum to him about unchecked post-poll violence by the TMC goons who are being aided by the state police,” he said.

TMC’s Bankura district president Arup Chakraborty, during his visit to Munaidihi village on Tuesday, told a group of partymen, “If anyone enters your house chop them to pieces. Sacrifice them as it is done in religious rituals. I will face the consequences and protect you.” He reportedly said that in the presence of police, referring to BJP workers.

He also told a TV channel, “The BJP does not even have a single MLA in our state, but some new entrants in that party from the CPM are terrorizing our workers.”

Asked whether he was committing a crime by inciting the people to kill intruders and would the TMC Government stand by his actions, he said, “I am an advocate and I know the law. I have asked them to take up weapons in private defence and chop them. Mamata Banerjee will certainly support me. My story is different from that of Tapas Pal.”
