NEW DELHI: Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Monday defended the party's demand for the post of the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha saying Congress is the single largest party and we have a pre-poll alliance.
The Congress chief's comment came a day after senior party leader Kamal Nath said that the party must take legal recourse, if denied the post by Speaker Sumitra Mahajan.
The Congress managed to get 44 seats in Lok Sabha polls, and according to the BJP, it is less than the required 10 percent of the total strength to make the party eligible for the LoP post.
