Irate Over Postponement of Exam, Aspirants Protest in Jammu

Over 1,500 aspirants had arrived at Kala Kendra here to appear in the examination for jobs to Jammu and Kashmir Fire and Emergency Services Department, officials said.

JAMMU: Upset over the sudden postponement of the exam for jobs to state fire department, over a thousand aspirants held a protest and blocked a state highway here today, prompting police to baton charge and disperse them.

Over 1,500 aspirants had arrived at Kala Kendra here to appear in the examination for jobs to Jammu and Kashmir Fire and Emergency Services Department, officials said.

Suddenly it was announced that the examination for various advertised posts was postponed.

Irate over this, the candidates took to the streets raising slogans against the government and blocked the Jammu-Pathankote highway at Bikram Chowk.

Police resorted to minor baton charging to disperse the protesters who had brought the traffic in the city to a standstill for about two hours.

According to the students, there was complete chaos at the exam venue and no adequate arrangements were made in the hot weather conditions, and later the examination was also postponed.
