Madani Gets Interim Bail

The Supreme Court on Friday granted one-month bail to Abdul Nazir Madani, the prime accused in the 2008 Bangalore serial bomb blast case, on health grounds.

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Friday granted one-month bail to Abdul Nazir Madani, the prime accused in the 2008 Bangalore serial bomb blast case, on health grounds.

 A Bench of Justice J Chelameswar and Justice A K Sikri granted the relief as the accused is suffering from various ailments but directed him not to leave Bangalore.

 The court said the Karnataka Government is at liberty to take all steps to ensure that he does not get in touch with witnesses in the case, including putting him under surveillance.

 Madani has been behind bars for the last four years and is suffering from diabetes and ailment in both the eyes.  The court asked Madani to furnish two sureties of `1 lakh each and furnish his address where he would be staying.
