23-Yr-Old Woman Gangraped in South-West Delhi

NEW DELHI: A 23-year-old married woman was allegedly gangraped and robbed at gunpoint by three men in a moving car in south-west Delhi's Dwarka area late last night, police said Thursday.

According to the police, the woman had gone to a club at a mall in Gurgaon last night and was waiting to get a lift home. Four unidentified men in a car stopped and offered her lift and she accepted it, police said.

"Once inside the car, the woman was allegedly raped by the three of the four men on gunpoint. They also robbed of Rs 5,000 from her before dumping her at an isolated place. The accused also threatened her of dire consequences if she dared to report the incident," said a police official quoting the victim's statement.

Once the assailants left, she made a PCR call after which she was taken to the hospital where medical examination confirmed sexual assault. Police recorded the victim's statement and a case under relevant sections was registered at Dwarka Sector-23 police station. The victim has also told police that the accused had stopped at a CNG pump to get gas for their car.

Investigators have obtained the CCTV footages of the petrol station and of other instalments on the route to identify the accused men and their car. Sketches, on the basis of description given by the victim, are also being prepared. "We have formed several teams to identify the culprits and we are confident that they will be arrested soon," said a senior police official.

The woman is married and is a resident of Mathura city. She is residing in the city along with her friend. Further investigations are underway, police added.
