Maharashtra Flays Karnataka Police Action

The Maharashtra Cabinet on Wednesday passed a resolution condemning the Karnataka government for unleashing its police force to commit “brutalities” against Marathi speaking people in Yellur near Belgaum. 

MUMBAI: The Maharashtra Cabinet on Wednesday passed a resolution condemning the Karnataka government for unleashing its police force to commit “brutalities” against Marathi speaking people in Yellur near Belgaum.  “The Maharashtra government and the Marathi speaking people in the border areas are fighting a legal battle for their just demands.

A petition in this regard is pending before the Supreme Court. In such situation, the caning by Karnataka Police is condemnable as well as a violation of human rights. Maharashtra government stands firmly by the Marathi speaking people in the border areas,” the resolution stated.
