A decomposed body of a 30-year-old woman was found at her residence in Loni area here this morning, with police suspecting the role of the woman's husband in the murder.

The incident came to light this morning when neighbours of the woman, Deepa, reported a foul smell emanating from her house and alerted police.

Police believe that Deepa might have been murdered around seven days ago.

Deepa lived with her husband, who is yet to be identified, in a rented accommodation in Panchwati area of Loni.

Police suspect the role of Deepa's husband as he is on the run from seven days.

"When police entered Deepa's house, she was found dead on the bed. Her throat was found slit. Initial investigation points finger at Deepa's husband," said Gorakhnath, station house officer, Loni police station.

Neighbours told police that Deepa's husband was not seen for the last seven days.

A team has been formed to investigate the matter.
