Senior Defence Ministry Officer Accused of Molesting Minor

A 14-year-old girl has accused her neighbour, who is posted as Joint Director in the Ministry of Defence, of molesting her on Holi in Outer Delhi's Rohini area, police said today.

The victim, who is a student of class IX at a private school, lives in the area along with her family. The officer also lives in the same building.

"The girl in her complaint had said that on the fateful day when she was celebrating Holi along with her friends, the man held her hand and pulled her towards him. She somehow freed herself and ran into her home. When she described the incident to her parents, they decided to approach us," said a police official.

A case under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act has been registered at Samaypur Badli Police station and further investigations are underway, police said.

The victim's statement has been recorded before a magistrate under section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. Although the officer has not been arrested yet, he has been summoned to join investigation, police said.
