Famous Bollywood music director Bappi Lahiri is likely to be a BJP candidate for the Lok Sabha elections. Kicking off the poll campaign of West Bengal BJP president and the party’s nominee for the Kolkata seat, Rahul Sinha, on Thursday, he said: “Bappi Lahiri is a brand name. I am a man of the masses and the people love me. I can contest from anywhere in the country – Rajasthan, Gujarat, West Bengal or even Mumbai. In Mumbai, there is a good alliance between the BJP and the Shiv Sena. The party will decide my seat, if at all I ultimately contest.” Supporting his claim, Sinha said Lahiri was capable of contesting from anywhere in the country. “He came from Mumbai this morning to inaugurate my election campaign office.”  Lahiri, who hails from West Bengal, migrated to Mumbai 42 years ago at the age of 18.
