Cong Releases Fifth List of Candidates

The Congress party on Friday released its fifth list of 26 candidates, in which 21 candidates were from West Bengal and two each from Punjab and Bihar and one from Maharastra.

Former West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee president Manas Bhuniya and senior leader Abdul Mannan were figured in the list of party candidates for the Lok Sabha elections from West Bengal.

Senior minister Shivaji Rao Moghe was fielded from Yavatmal- Washim in Maharastra. In Bihar, sitting Gopalganj MP from JD(U) Purnmasi Ram, whose candidature was earlier announced by the Congress from the seat, was shifted to adjoining Valmikinagar bringing Doctor Jyoti in his place at Gopalganj. In West Bengal, apart from fielding Manas Bhunia from Ghatal, Councillor in Kolkata Municipal Corporation Mala Roy has been chosen party nominee from South Kolkata and noted painter Samir Aich has been fielded from Jadavpur.

The candidates from West Bengal are Om Prakash Mishra (Balurghat), Ila Mandal (Bangaon-SC), Samrat Topedar ( Barrackpur), Dhanunjoy Moitra (Dum Dum), Quazi Abdul Rhim (Basirhat), Manoranjan Haldar (Mathupur-SC), Manoj Kumar Pandey (Howrah), Sambhu Nath Malik (Arambag-SC), Anwar Ali(Tamluk), Kunal Banerjee (Kanthi), Anita Hansda (Jhargram-ST), Bimal Raj (Medinipur), Nil Madhav Gupta (Bankura) Narayan Chander Khan (Bishnupur), Chandhana Majhi (Bardhaman Purba-SC), Indrani Mishra (Asansol and Tapan Kumar Saha(Bolpur-SC).
