While Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar took a swipe at Aamir Khan's 'intolerance' remark yesterday, many politicians and celebrities did not take it lightly. Not just celebrities, most of the Twitterati also hit out at the politician for reportedly admitting that his government pressurised Snapdeal to drop Aamir Khan as brand ambassador.
“Many people ordered and then returned the order to teach a lesson to the company, the company had to finally pull out his advertisement. Lessons on patriotism and respecting your motherland can only be learnt at home. When you treat your mother and father with disrespect, your kids see it, you can be sure he will treat u the same way,” said the Defence Minister at the launch of the Marathi edition of a book in Pune.
In response to his comment, Here's what the Twitterati feels:
So Manohar Parrikar sent out his "Smart teams" to deal with Aamir Khan but when it came to Pathankot decided that Doval should handle it?— ☭ Comrade Nambiar ☭ (@DasBolshevik) July 31, 2016
Parrikar has only confirmed what we've known: use of cyber-mobs to lynch those daring to question u. Regret is a new eco startup succumbing— Shekhar Gupta (@ShekharGupta) July 31, 2016
Been a fan of Manohar Parrikar but Aamir Khan made a statement in November 2015.— Sorabh Pant (@hankypanty) July 31, 2016
As a Defense Minister shouldn't your response be quicker?
Manohar Parrikar is more obsessed with Aamir Khan than what the Indian Army is doing in Kashmir. Which happens when you're a village idiot.— lindsay pereira (@lindsaypereira) July 31, 2016
