Kashmir unrest: Geelani, Mirwaiz stage sit-ins outside homes

Geelani, accompanied by over two dozen activists and supporters, came out from his Hyderpora residence on Srinagar-Airport road this afternoon and staged the sit-in on the link road.

SRINAGAR: Chairmen of rival factions of Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, today led peaceful sit-ins outside their houses here against the death of over 50 persons in the ongoing unrest in the Valley which was triggered by the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani on July 8.

Geelani, accompanied by over two dozen activists and supporters, came out from his Hyderpora residence on Srinagar-Airport road this afternoon and staged the sit-in on the link road.

Likewise, Mirwaiz along with a group of supporters also staged the token sit-in outside his Nigeen residence on the outskirts of the city to protest what he called "state terrorism".
