Act against those playing mischief with IT schemes: Kirit Somaiya

NEW DELHI: A BJP member in Lok Sabha today sought stern against those playing "mischief" with the government, citing instances of people claiming to have huge amounts of money to declare under a recent scheme even though they did not have it.
    
Kirit Somaiya said the government has taken decisions like demonetisation and Income Declaration Scheme to curb black money but some people are doing mischief.
     
"A family in Mumbai sought to declare Rs 2 lakh crore under Income Declaration Scheme even though they did not have a penny. Some people are doing mischief. The government should take stern action," he said during the Zero Hour.
    
Among other issues, Maheish Girri (BJP) urged the Agriculture Ministry to boost the concept of vertical farming in urban areas, while Rameswar Teli (BJP) urged the Civil Aviation Ministry to deply jumbo jets on Dibrugarh-Delhi air route so that more passengers can be accommodated.
     
Amid continuous slogan-shouting by opposition members, Vinayak Raut (Shiv Sena) asked the government to bring a legislation to change the name of Bombay High Court to Mumbai High Court, saying such a proposal had been sent by the Maharashtra government long back and the Centre should act quickly on it.
     
Expressing concern over death of elephants in Assam after being hit by trains while crossing rail tracks, Bijoya Chakravarty (BJP) urged the government to take protective measures and blamed it on deforestation.
