CBSE directs its affiliated schools to go cashless from January 1

NEW DELHI: From January 1 all CBSE schools will go cashless and students’ fees child's will have to be paid online or through other mode of cashless transaction, according to the circular issued to schools by the CBSE.
 
According to the CBSE circular, schools have to make all payments online. This includes wages to contractual workers, procurement of goods and services. Schools have been told to disburse staff salary through direct bank transfer Schools have to make all payments digitally.
 
The CBSE’s circular follows the directives of Union Human Resource Minister Prakash Javadekar to encourage cashless payment. In a letter, CBSE secretary Joseph Emmanuel has directed the principals to introduce cashless ways for fees collection only through online.
 
Schools have been suggested to interact with the parents during the parents teachers meeting and stress on awareness about the benefits of non-cash transactions.
 
Additionally, the aim is to motivate students of senior classes to undertake promotional initiatives in their neighbourhood to promote cashless transactions, according to the circular. Currently, all schools offer non-cash modes for fee payment.
