Mithun Chakraborty resigns from Rajya Sabha citing health reasons

Mithun Chaktaborty who was elected to the Rajya Sabha by TMC, today resigned from the Upper House citing health reasons.

NEW DELHI: Actor-turned politician Mithun Chakraborty on Monday resigned from the Upper House, Rajya Sabha citing health reasons.

He was elected to the Rajya Sabha in April 2014.

Mithun Chakraborty who was in limleight last year for his alleged involvement in Saradha scam, submitted his resignation to Rajya Sabha Chairman, official sources said.

He has written to the Chairman that because of his health condition he is not been able to fulfil his duty in Rajya Sabha and that is why he is relinquishing his seat, sources added.

Mithun from Mamata Banerjee led Trinamul Congress (TMC), was elected to the Rajya Sabha in April 2014 attended the House proceedings for three only, while the House functioned for a month period from November 16 to December 16 this year.
