Saradha scam: Prime accused Kunal Ghosh gets interim bail

However, the High Court denied a CBI plea for house arrest of Kunal Ghosh.

KOLKATA: In what has come as a Durga Puja bonanza, Saradha chit fund scam accused and Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha MP Kunal Ghosh was granted interim bail by the Calcutta High Court on Wednesday.

A division bench of Justice Ashim Kumar Ray and Justice Malay Marut Banerjee granted the Saradha scam kingpin an interim bail till November 11 on a personal bond of Rs 2 lakh.

Major clauses in the bail state that Ghosh cannot move out of Narkeldanga Police Station limits during the period and has to appear before the Central Bureau of Investigation once a week. The CBI sleuths may also question him whenever they may. Also, Kunal Ghosh's passport has to be submitted with the investigating agency.

However, the High Court denied a CBI plea for house arrest of Kunal Ghosh.

Ghosh was arrested and lodged in prison since November 13, 2013. He was suspended from the seventh national party soon after.

Another Trinamool Congress former minister  Madan Mitra was granted bail by Alipore Court on September 9.
