I Venkat unanimously elected as ABC chairman

I Venkat has been unanimously elected as the chairman and Debabrata Mukherjee as the deputy chairman of the Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC) for 2016-17.

CHENNAI: I Venkat has been unanimously elected as the chairman and Debabrata Mukherjee as the deputy chairman of the Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC) for 2016-17.

Venkat is a director of the Eenadu group and also the chairman of Media Research Users Council (MRUC). He has in the past served as the chairman of the Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI), and has had a long innings on the boards of the Indian Newspaper Society (INS), Indian Broadcasting Foundation (IBF), International News Media Association (INMA), and the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC).

Mukherjee is a vice-president (marketing and commercial - India & South West Asia) of Coca Cola India.

The following are the publishers representatives on ABC’s Council of Management for 2016-2017: Chairman I Venkat (Ushodaya Enterprises),  Shailesh Gupta (Jagran Prakashan), Hormusji N. Cama (Bombay Samachar), Devendra V Darda, (Lokmat Media), Benoy Roychowdhury (HT Media), Chandan Majumdar (ABP), Raj Kumar Jain (Bennett, Coleman), and Pratap G. Pawar (Sakal Papers).

The advertisers representatives are deputy chairman Debabrata Mukherjee (Coca Cola), honorary secretary Hemant Malik (ITC), Sandip Tarkas (Future Retail), and Mayank Pareek (Tata Motors).

The representatives of advertising agencies are  honorary treasurer Madhukar Kamath (DDB Mudra),  Shashidhar Sinha (IPG Mediabrands, India),Srinivasan K Swamy (RK Swamy BBDO), C V L Srinivas (Group M). Hormuzd Masani will be the secretary-general.
