According to TV reports, about three army personnel have lost their lives so far, including a senior officer.

The army camp in Kupwara district of Kashmir, came under attack on Thursday morning by Fidayeen militants. 

The incident took place at Panjgaon at Chowkibal when militants, suspected to be of terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad stormed the battalion camp which is in-charge of road opening duties on the crucial roads in this area.

UPDATES:

- 9:30 am: The army officer killed was identified as Captain Ayush, official sources said.

- 8:40 am: The army camp is being swept to look for more militants and recover the bodies of the  two neutralised so far. - TV reports

Reports state that two more terrorists are still holed up and attempts are being made to smoke them out.

"Fidayeen terrorists attacked the Panzgam army camp close to the Line of Control (LoC) around 4.30 a.m." Defence Ministry Spokesman, Colonel Rajesh Kalia told IANS.

Searches were going on inside the camp to ascertain whether or not the militants managed to sneak into the camp.
