Seven get life term in Basdhada gangrape case

MUZAFFARNAGAR: Seven persons were today sentenced to life in prison for raping a 22-year-old woman in Basdhada village here and circulating a video of the act on social media.

Additional District Sessions Judge Rajesh Bhardwaj held them guilty under IPC section 376 (g) (gangrape) and section 66 of the Information Technology Act.

The judge also imposed a fine of Rs 35,000 on each of them.

The men raped the woman in June 2014, captured the act on camera and uploaded the video on social media, according to prosecution lawyer Qayyum Ali.
