BHOPAL: A female jail guard at Bhopal Central Jail was suspended on Wednesday in connection with stamping official seal on the cheeks of two children who had visited the jail on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan on Monday.
The guard Roshani Rajput was suspended after she was found to have put the seal on the cheeks of the two siblings (a girl and a boy) when they visited the jail to meet their father lodged at the jail on Monday, along with their mother, a senior official of the state jail department official confirmed on Wednesday.
The departmental probe ordered by the state minister for jails Kusum Mehdele revealed that the female guard who was putting seal on the palms of the visitors had by mistake put the seal on the cheeks of the two children. Their mother too had not objected to it, the jail department official told the New Indian Express on Wednesday.
Besides, the probe ordered by the jail department, the MP State Human Rights Commission too had taken cognisance of the matter and sought a detailed report from the department within a week. The state human rights panel has also directed the department to pay Rs 10,000 as compensation to the family.
Jails all across MP, including the Bhopal Central Jail had witnessed huge rush of families coming to meet their loved ones lodged at the jails on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan day on Monday.
