CHANDIGARH: Taking a cue from Bollywood movies a 16-year-old boy in Ambala kidnapped a 5-year
old girl for ransom and then killed her as he drowned her in a water tub.
Superintendent of Police of Ambala, Abhishek Jorwal said that the police has arrested a 16-year-old boy studying in Class XI for abducting and murdering a five-year old girl as the boy abducted the girl for ransom as he demanded Rs 20 lakhs from the girl’s father.
The boy lured the girl to his house yesterday evening when she was playing outside her house. As the girl went missing her family started searching for her and then informed the police. By then the accused gave a ransom call to the neighbour demanding Rs 20 lakh from the girl’s father,’’ he said.
Sources said that as the police traced the phone call and also zeroed-in on the house. The accused got jittery that the girl might raise hue and cry and he could be caught so he killed her as he drowned her in the water tub and then dumped her body in a water cooler.
The police arrested the boy in the afternoon after it traced the ransom phone call to the house of the boy’s
brother-in-law, at that time the accused was working on his laptop. The landlord of the house was the deceased girl’s father. He did not show any remorse .The accused was alone at the house as his brother-in-law who worked the deceased father’s shop had gone to Uttar Pradesh with his family. The deceased father was not aware of the accused’s background and intentions,’’ said Jorwal.
Sources said that during questioning, the accused reportedly told the police that he had watched a Bollywood movie after which he decided to kidnap the girl in order to make easy money.
