Rajasthan 'love jihad' case: Ban on mobile internet, section 144, lifted in Udaipur

The services were blocked ahead of a protest demonstration in the wake of killing of a Muslim labourer Afrazul in the neighbouring district of Rajsamand.

UDAIPUR: Prohibitory orders under section 144 of the CrPC and a ban on mobile internet services were lifted after the situation remained normal in this district, a senior official said today.

Mobile internet services were blocked and orders prohibiting gathering of more than four persons were imposed as a precautionary measure on Wednesday night ahead of a protest demonstration in the wake of killing of a Muslim labourer Afrazul in the neighbouring district of Rajsamand.

"The situation in the district is normal therefore the orders and ban lifted yesterday. The mobile internet service has been resumed," Udaipur collector Bishnu Charan Mallick said.

He requested the public to not believe any rumour. PTI Corr Afrazul was hacked to death by a man in Rajsamand district and gory killing led to widespread outrage across the country.
