Woman on way home after work dragged, raped by two in Delhi

The woman called the police who took her to a hospital where rape was confirmed in medical examination.

NEW DELHI: A 35-year-old woman working in a bar was allegedly gang raped by two persons in south Delhi's upscale Hauz Khas Village while she was returning back to her home, police said today. She was on her way home on a scooty in Vasant Vihar area when the accused stopped her and dragged her inside an under-construction building where they raped her.

Nikhil and Vishal were arrested yesterday on the basis of details provided by the victim, a senior police officer said. According to the victim, the accused stopped her and asked for directions and all of a sudden, caught hold of her and dragged her inside the under-construction building near Hauz Khas Village, around 11 PM on Thursday, he said.

The accused also thrashed her before fleeing, said the officer. The woman called the police who took her to a hospital where rape was confirmed in medical examination. A case was registered. The accused, who are distantly related, work as salesmen in a garment shop in Sarojini Nagar area and live in Munirka, the officer added.
