LUCKNOW: Making a punch-packed and fervent vote appeal in favour of the SP-Congress alliance candidate Rakesh Singh from Harchandpur in Rae Bareli on Tuesday, RJD chief Lalu Yadav lambasted the policies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, even questioning his credentials as a PM.

Accepting the invitation of Congress chief Sonia Gandhi and daughter Priyanka to campaign in Rae Bareli, the witty RJD chief did not mince words in firing salvos on the Prime Minister.

In his inimitable style, Lalu sought to compare Modi with US president Donald Trump in order to make a point about the unpredictability of his decisions. “Modi is like a twin brother of US President Donald Trump and nobody knows what he will do next,” said the RJD chief.

Wisely and subtly, he raked-up the ‘Atal’ issue alleging that former Prime Minister was kept on sedatives so that he could not understand the politics of the day. “It is a conspiracy to sideline him and it should be probed into,” said Lalu.

“Vajpayeeji had reprimanded Modi over Godhra riots, but LK Advani had shielded him... Modi has marginalised even Advani also,” he maintained.

The RJD chief rejected Modi’s credentials to govern a “country like India” saying that the people were fed up of him. All praise for Akhilesh’s development pattern, Lalu stressed that winning the UP elections was vital for the SP-Congress alliance in order to remove the Modi government.
