MUMBAI: NCP leader Supriya Sule today said the results of the civic polls in Maharashtra were a "setback" to the party as it lost three municipal corporations and a zilla parishad to the BJP.

"It is definitely a setback and we need to introspect and rebuild our party," Supriya told PTI.

She said the party in power in the state always benefits in the local bodies and civic elections.

"We had also won in 2012. This is not a new phenomenon," the Lok Sabha MP added.

The Sharad Pawar-led party lost its strongholds in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad municipal corporations as well as in Ulhasnagar civic body to the BJP.

The BJP also made a dent into the NCP stronghold in the Sangli zilla parishad.
