NEW DELHI: A two-day national executive meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will begin today in New Delhi.

The meeting assumes significance in view of the ensuing Assembly polls in five states.

During the meeting, the party's national executive is likely to discuss strategy for poll-bound Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Manipur and Goa.

The government's demonetisation move is likely to be hailed as an important step in its war against black money and corruption during the meet.

The party will use the occasion to burnish its pro-poor and pro-weak credentials by citing several government schemes, including the recent initiatives announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The national meet will begin with a meeting of party office bearers.

BJP president Amit Shah will deliver the inaugural address while the Prime Minister will give the valedictory speech on the second day.

Senior party leaders, Union Ministers and Chief Ministers of the BJP-ruled states will take part in the two-day meet.
